Tucker

"One thing I think we all can agree on and that is this horse is unique! Ever seen one colored like this and have four (count them) white stockings to the knees? Look at Tuckers eyes-----kinda a hazel color----beautiful! Now I have owned Tucker before and have rode him all over the country. I even had a client on him once when we rode by a mother bear and her cub as they climbed up a tree just feet away. Good horse? Indeed Tucker is. Now why do I have him back? Good question and here is the answer. The previous owners husband suddenly took an interest in riding and he, being a very tall and big man, wanted or needed a bigger horse. So, I was happy to take Tucker back in on trade and some lucky person will be happy to get Tucker. Make sense? Does to me! One time I was riding with a buddy of mine....like many of my friends this guy was a goof-off and he came riding up beside Tucker and I and slide off his horse onto Tucker and we rode double for a mile or so ponying his horse along side. A lot of horses would certainly jump if someone mounted them unexpectedly while moving from the side! Another time I took the bridle completely off Tucker and just guided him around the ranch with the pressure of a rein around his neck. Good horse, folks---good horse!

Pistol

"Here is a situation that makes me scratch my head. Pistol is just not an easy keeper. I have, of course, had him wormed as well as checked for parasites. And I had his blood drawn and tested and all checks out within normal limits. My local vet says that he may do better if he was turned out on a good pasture and allowed to graze on green grass. At Twin Ponds, we have very limited grazing and have to feed hay and grain. So, here is what I am going to do....offer Pistol at near give away price. Let me tell you about Pistol. He has a very kind-sweet personality. He rides just fine and has a loose, ground-eating natural gait. Check out the video.  This horse is a nodding, striding, walking fool! He is extremely well bred. He comes out of Pride of Midnight HF/Ebony Masterpiece/Coin's Hard Cash bloodlines. These bloodlines are highly sought after. I do think the answer is a good pasture. $1000 American dollars and you may well have the deal of the Century! I want this nice fellow to have the best.....he deserves it!

Steel Mag

"Here is a nice horse that I can sell inexpensively simply because I bought her right and therefore will sell her right! As you can see she is a beautiful solid, coal black mare. "Registered", coal black mare! She was ridden by a young lady most of her life. Done some fun shows with her and put many miles on her covering trails. Guess you can say a been-there-done-that kinda gal! She handles the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of northern New Mexico very well indeed. Priced beyond right!

Springtime in Colorado

"Springtime in Colorado, is this magnificent young horses registered name. Around here we just call him Springtime. Ever seen markings like this? Dark Buckskin would be his base color with four white speckled socks and a few white spots on his body and neck. Springtime was turned out into a large mountain pasture which was very rocky. His feet are hard as rocks and trimmed by Nature. Springtime has not been saddled yet. He is being socialized here at Twin Ponds and coming along wonderfully. He has figured out that folks around these parts are pretty nice and scratch and groom him plus bring him plenty of good food! Springtime is in my opinion going to be a solid 15.1 or bigger and a wonderful companion for some lucky person. At Trail Horses of the West, our operations is selling finished trail horses and as I stated before, Springtime is not finished yet. If you want the flashiest horse in your State and have time to work with a horse.....here is a very good deal!

Moon Beam

"Well, if you look at her face you can understand how she got her name. Unique markings on this black four white socks mare. But the best part about her is her gait............Oh My! If you are looking for that ultimate smoothness, here ya go! This nice looking mare gets along with other horses marvelously. I have never seen a bad day that some mares can have. Discounting her because she is a mare would be a big mistake in my opinion. If she doesn't get sold quickly you'll see me a riding her for sure. (Check site for photos) This is a really good horse that someone can have for the next twenty plus years. If you are a bargain shopper, you have found one here............Moon Beam!"

Kentucky Mountain, Spottedd Mountain, Rocky Mountain Horses For Sale in Colorado...

Starz Mania

"This big, handsome Chocolate Rocky Mountain gelding comes to Twin Ponds Ranch with his mother, sister and five month old half brother. A well know couple who raised, trail rode and showed Rockies came to the end of a long career of dealing with the best of the breed. All though I did not know the couple personally, I am told cancer took the Mrs. and her husband no longer had the desire to continue with their lifelong love. So, besides the history of where Starz came from, I can tell you that even with the knowledge that Starz had very little riding in the last two years, he hasn't forgotten a thing. Gait we all wish we could find! Temperament???? Mark him down as a # 1 in that category too! Please watch the video of me riding him on a hard surface road. In spite of the fact his feet are long or untrimmed he is hitting a perfect 4-beat gait...........smooooooth! Big flashy chocolate guy with the most pretty head. 15.2 and stout. Starz Mania.......you won't find another eight year old like him!

Frosty

"This most handsome fellow was born right in the heart of the famous Mountain Horse country. (Rocky and Kentucky Mountain Horses) Frosty has been in New Mexico now for several months and has learned the high country. Good with other horses and blessed with a willing temperament. Very natural gait. Coming six years of age and he has an application in his file to register him in the Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse Association. A Saddle Horse indeed! Come throw a leg over him!

Rondo

"As you look through these photos posted on Rondo, you'll see a very healthy, good boned Rocky Mountain gelding. White mane and tail that will only get longer and fuller as time goes on. The thing I like most about this handsome young fellow is his natural gait. With the interest in this Rocky Mountain breed, there is some trotty and pacey horses coming onto the market. Not Rondo! Everything is in place for this horse to be the best of his breed. He was started right (never offered to buck) and well cared for. Rondo comes from very good bloodlines. Well, there ya have it. If you want to get into these chocolate-white mane and tail Rocky's you better make the jump now! You won't find better quality at a better price. Rondo!

Prince

"A few weeks back I had posted another chocolate Rocky Mountain gelding much similar to Prince. His name was Toby and a very nice couple from Colorado Springs came down and saw exactly what I was talking about and bought him. I can tell you that they love Toby and he is being ridden every week and will be going elk hunting in the mountains this Fall. Now Prince is older than Toby and more advanced as far as experience goes but I do tell....I like the disposition or temperament of this guy. Here is another tall Rocky Mountain who very well could hit sixteen hands. Prince has always been just that---a Prince! Yes, a few more miles and another birthday and you've got yourself a $7,500 horse. A very, very good looking three year old that has his Breeding Certificate in his folder. I am going to sell him for $4,800 and if you want him registered you can send in the form. Deal? Priced right and you'll get more than you paid for!"

Peanut

"Dependable, sure footed and miles under saddle may well best describe Peanut. Don't ya just love his name? No, he isn't the perfect size for every rider but he'll fit a smaller persons bill to a Tee! As you can see from the photos he can easily carry an average size man. This super great looking horse has the gait to match! Can be ridden with any kind of horses, will move if you want to ride with others that like to roll on! Peanut--a real honest to goodness Rocky Mountain Saddle Horse!

Buckshot

Most folks recognize this great looking horse with a long mane and fully tail, as the Mountain Horse breed. Yep, registered and certified Rocky Mountain. Buckshot is an easy horse to get along with and handle. I have had children ride him on the trail. The Mountain Horse breed is also known for their wonderful willing or cooperative attitude. Buckshot is no exception. If you study the photos and short video, you can see the perfect and smooth gait. His color is beyond attractive…..very unique! Coming six years old and hundreds of miles of trail experience, I can assure you there are not many like him around. Come ride him on and around the trails of Twin Ponds Ranch. There is no place that can show you better the conditions really needed to evaluate a new riding partner. A very special kind of horse!

Matt Dillon

"How many buckskin mules have you ever seen? As for me----one! Matt Dillon. This big, sweet, kind-eyed fellow is indeed a true buckskin mule and one handsome one at that! Here is the story on Matt Dillon. He comes from the Missouri Mule Company, owner Bob Bingham. If you want to know what Mr. Bingham had to say about Matt Dillon, you can do a search and type in, Missouri Mule Company Matt Dillon. Now here is what I've got to say about Matt Dillon: He is a most calm and gentle animal as you will find. His ground manners are impeccable. He'll back for you from here to Denver. Tap him on his butt and he'll stretch out...way out. He has a tremendous short lope and a good canter. His mother was a Tennessee Walker and he carries the wonderful disposition of a Walking Horse! Today, he is all of 15.3 hands high. Now back to the old story. Not telling a story out of school as the old saying goes, but the lady who bought Matt Dillon paid $12,500 for him. Yes indeed he is that kind of a mule! Now a pretty sixty year old lady does not need a 15.3 hand high mule. What she needs and now has, is a 14.3 gaited gelding. So, now you know the rest of the story! Well almost....I didn't tell you the price yet. $8,500. Do yourself a favor and do some research on gaited mules. You'll find if ya don't already know....Matt Dillon is being offered at a very reasonable and more than fair price.

Zeus

I have stated many times that I am not a breed snob. I possess a strong belief that there are certain breeds to do certain tasks and disciplines. I sell trail and pleasure horses and believe that the gaited breeds are the appropriate breed for that undertaking. Oh, I know there are some trail riders that only prefer to ride an hour or so and then return to the campfire and tell old stories, and I suppose if that is your "cup of tea", it really wouldn't make much of a difference what breed you were riding. In my operation I sell and know best the Tennessee Walker, Spotted Saddle Horse, Missouri Fox Trotter and the Mountain Horse (Kentucky Mountain and Rocky Mountain) Recently, I came across this Zeus horse which is a registered Pureblood Peruvian Horse. I guess some folks also call them Peruvian Paso's. Well, I tell ya what! This horse is exceptionally smooth and darn good looking and best of all, fun to ride. Now you can throw a horse into any registry you want, but it is like a dog treeing a coon----that dog is a coon dog! Well, Zeus is a gaited trail horse even if his registration papers look a bit different than I am used to! Now I have had a beginner rider on him but I wouldn't say he is for a plum beginner. If you can ride and appreciate a horse that steps out and is without a doubt one of the smoothest horses I have ever ridden....then ya better take a good hard look at Zeus! Now I maybe out of my mind and I am frequently told I am, but I am going to price this guy well worth the money. Why? Well for two reasons: 1. Most folks searching for this breed won't find my web site because this isn't the breed I normally offer for sale. 2. I am just plain into him right and am going to pass that savings on! I know one thing though...I have sold a lot of good horses and know a seven thousand dollar horse when I see and ride one. But, $3,800 is what I am going to ask for this guy---out of my mind or not!
